Objectives

  • Increase the viability and sustainability of educational activities in the community.

  • Expand the school, including two more classrooms and a communal space for community meetings.

Activities

  • Approval of final designs by the community. Meeting with the community giving formal start to the project.

  • Preparation of the site and purchase of materials. Beginning of construction work.

  • Formal hand over of the final constructionto to the community.

Results

  • The expansion of the school has increased access to a quality educational space for children in the communities of Ableizhi and Ulueizhi. Now, the community has a school to implements bilingual education in its own indigenous context.

2. Building the Cultural Center Ngüechica in Puerto Nariño

Objectives

  • Promote the development of intercultural exchange and conservation activities of the traditional knowledge of indigenous people, with a focus on children's activities.

Activities

  • Construction of the Cultural Center Ngüechica

  • Construction of the Maloca during the International Workshop of Bio-

  • Construction: "Construye Colombia - Amazonas", organized by HabitatSur and Fundación Organizmo.

  • Set-up of "bibliofridges," purchase of books and installation of the libraries in public areas of Puerto Nariño and Leticia.

  • Implementation of special workshops aimed at children and young people.

Results

  • The construction of the Cultural Center Ngüechica provides a safe and community-friendly space to carry out cultural rescue activities and is also as a sustainability strategy for the Foundation, as it includes a guest house for tourists.

  • The "bibliofridges" were able to give free access to the entire community, especially the children of Puerto Nariño, to quality literary material.

  • The daily workshops held at the Cultural Centre Ngüechica promote expressions of local indigenous cultures among children and young people for their preservation.

3. Improving the quality of care at the aeioTU Cabí Early Childhood Development Center in Chocó

Objectives

Our support focused on adapting infrastructure and providing pedagogical equipment for the use of children and teachers.

Activities

  • Reconstruction of the rainwater system. Reconstruction of the water supply tank.

  • Installation of screens in all classrooms.

  • Purchase of equipment for the kitchen and furniture for the classrooms.

Results

Through the project, Tamarin helped to improve the educational environments of the Center, creating safe and cleaner spaces, and increasing the effectiveness of the provision of services for boys and girls.

Strengthening the activities that are carried out to promote the integral development of early childhood in the Early Childhood Development Center "El Jardín de Sofi", in the community of Caracolí in Ciudad Bolívar.

Activities

  • Implementation of the pedagogical project "The Craftsman of Fantastic Dreams."

  • Daily delivery of breakfast, lunch and snacks, guaranteeing 75% of the daily nutritional and caloric requirements of children.

  • Training for parents

Results

  • Through the project, comprehensive early childhood care services were provided at the Early Childhood Development Center "El Jardín de Sofí"
