1. Preserving the Tropical Dry Forest in Montes de María

Objectives
Contributing to the conservation of tropical dry forests and the improvement of the quality of life of farming communities who are returning to rural areas after the war. In addition, it aided in the process of strengthening environmental governance for the conservation of tropical dry forest ecosystems with local communities.
Activities
Identification and selection of participants located within a conservation corridor that connects with the Los Colorados Flora and Fauna Sanctuary.
Environmental characterization of the property.
Definition of conservation areas within each farm.
Screening of the conservation areas.
Implementation of a training program for farming communities.
Preparation of family gardens and a silvopastoral pilots per farm.
Development of hen-breeding and egg production system.
Implementation of a beekeeping system.
Implementation of the workshops to strengthen the Local Protected Areas System Committee.
Results
Thanks to the project, biological corridors associated with the Los Colorados Flora and Fauna Sanctuary were created, improving the habitat conditions of the fauna and flora species of the dry tropical forest of San Juan Nepomuceno.
Participants have been supported to generate larger production surpluses due to higher productivity in less farming area.

2. A Playground for La Chivera

Objectives
Together with 123Xmi, Tamarin's support was aimed at the construction of a playground for the community of Chivera
Activities
Implementation of a workshop with participants (adults and children) to define the type of space to design and build. Identification of a volunteer community workforce for the construction of the playground.
Manufacturing of the equipment.
Purchase and transportation of equipment.
Installation of equipment.
Results
The Chivera has a recreational area that includes a playground and a basketball court; spaces for play, a fundamental right of children.
Play is key as it strgnthens the recognition of the identity of children as rights-holders, their growth and development.

3. Improving Educational Infrastructure in Rural Schools
Location
Municipalities of Guaranda in the department of Sucre, Yacuanquer in the department of Nariño and Guachené in the department of Cauca.

Objectives
The remodeling of the educational infrastructure that was conducted contributed primarily to improve health conditions and quality of life of students and to promote school attendance.
Activities
The kitchen of the elementary school "Llano de Taula" in the municipality of Guachené, Cauca, has been remodeled and expanded.
A restroom has been built at "Las Mercedes" preschool headquarters of the Guaranda Educational Institution, Sucre.
A space (stable of silvopastorial practices) has been adapted for educational and cultural training in the educational center "La Concentración", in the municipality of Yacuanquer.
Results
The remodeling and/or total reconstruction of three educational spaces promoted children's rights to quality education in the communities.

4. Restoration of the Rural Elementary School of the Village of Pitacapacho
Location

Objectives
By collaborating with Fundación Puntos de Encuentro we were able to improve the infrastructure of the Pitacapacho school, so that more children can have access to a quality educational space.
Activities
Diagnostic of the community and school.
Definition of the intervention with community members.
Restoration of the classroom ceiling.
Construction of bathroom, kitchen and dining room.
Construction of a water storage and purification system.
Improvement of the community meeting space.
Visit to local government institutions to visualize the situation of Pitacapacho.
Results
At the end of the project ,the school was transformed into an environmentally sustainable structure with restrooms, classroom, water tank, kitchen with efficient wood burning stove, cafeteria, solar power plant, community meeting space and equipment. This project, beyond improving the infrastructure, succeeded in making the community visible in the region, as well as with the private and government institutions.
An unexpected result was that the children at the school took an interest in music and their mothers in dance. This greatly strengthened their self-esteem as the community's confidence in their territory.
