Objectives

Guaranteeing high quality spaces for the care and education of children in early childhood.

Activities

  • Demolition of inadequate roof (with materials harmful to children´s health) and installation of new roofing.

  • Removal of floors in poor condition and installation of new flooring throughout the kindergarten.

  • Construction of tailored toilets for the children.

  • Stucco and paint on walls

Results

Through the project, the kindergarten became a safe, motivating and welcoming space for early childhood children:

  • By removing walls, the classroom became larger and brighter. The replacement of the roof eliminated leaks, favored ventilation and generated a feeling of spaciousness.

  • By changing the floor throughout the building, risks for the children were eliminated giving also a more pleasant environment.

  • Bathrooms for education agents were installed as well as bathrooms to scale for children promoting their autonomy.

2. Body, art and rights in Barú

Objectives

To strengthen the comprehensive development of children and youngsters of Barú through curricular and extracurricular activities that provide tools to empower them to decide over their bodies, sexuality, and life.

Activities

  • Curricular and extracurricular workshops in music and folkloric dance.

  • Workshops on sexual and reproductive rights for children and youngsters from 6 to 20 years of age.

  • Gatherings for comprehensive sexuality education to inform and empower learners about their bodies.

  • Formation in socio-emotional habilities.

  • Training young women from Barú to become future mentors.

Results

  • Inclusion of music and dance workshops in the curriculum of the Luis Felipe Cabrera Educational Institution.

  • Folkloric music workshop made up of more than 40 children and adolescents. The music workshop is consolidated as a safe and protective space for children and adolescents, keeping them away from existing problems in the territory.

  • 41 boys and girls between 8 and 14 years of age graduated from the training process in comprehensive sexual education (ESI) and sexual and reproductive rights (DSR).

  • 35 adolescents and young people (6 men, 1 trans person, 28 women) received the certificate for having completed the CSE and SRR program.

  • 7 co-mentors completed their training and were certified by Poderosas to replicate their knowledge in Baru and other communities.

BENEFICIARIES

Direct:

170 boys and girls primary and secondary school students from the Vista Nieves village.

12 teachers.

Indirect:

850 community members (families of participating boys and girls)


3. Enriching quality spaces for early childhood in Urabá, Antioquia

Objectives

Strengthen integral early childhood care in the rural territories of Urabá, Antioquia.

Activities

  • Qualification and training of teachers.

  • Provision of materials and equipment for educational spaces to promote child development.

  • Improvement in infrastructure of communal spaces for an integrated model of attention for early childhood, pregnant and lactating women.

Results

  • 4 communal spaces in the rural areas of the municipalities of Apartadó, Carepa, Necoclí and Chigorodó adapted for an integrated model of attention for early childhood, pregnant and lactating women.

  • Communal spaces equipped with furniture and recreational-pedagogical materials.

  • Technical and pedagogical strengthening of 40 educational agents.

BENEFICIARIES

Direct:

122 children from 0 to 5 years of age.

40 educational agents .

100 families.

Indirect:

3,000 children in early childhood from 4 rural communities in Urabá Antioquia.

2,000 families.


4. Expansion of the Early Childhood Development Center "El Caracolí"

Objectives

Expand the infrastructure of "El Caracolí" in order to increase the coverage of beneficiaries for early childhood comprehensive attention, in the commune 4 of the municipality of Yumbo, Valle.

Activities

  • Construction of two pedagogical classrooms for comprehensive care of early childhood, promoting their development, stimulation and protection.

  • Construction of bathrooms on a children's scale within the pedagogical classrooms

Results

  • With 2 additional classrooms, 98 additional children under 5 years of age will receive comprehensive attention. The Child Development Center went from serving 512 to 610 early childhood children This attention has an impact on the protection and quality of life of children and their families.
