Objectives

Promote the protection and well-being of children affected by the Venezuelan migration crisis through the creation of a recreational space.

Activities

  • Construction of a playground and soccer field.

  • Provision of materials and equipment for 15 child friendly spaces, 8 educational spaces for emergencies and a playroom.

Results

  • The children have a playground and a soccer field to use their free time in a safe and healthy space.

  • The community child friendly spaces, education in emergency spaces, as well as the temporary foster care facility are equipped with materials and toys required to provide quality care.

2. Sustainable Punta Arena

Location

Punta Arena, Island of Tierra Bomba, Cartagena - Bolívar

Objetivos

Strengthen local organizations in Punta Arena in order for them to become promoters of territorial conservation and community environmental health.

Activities

  • Implementation of training sessions for local organizations and businesses on environmental health and land conservation.

  • Development of an environmental action plan for the recovery of the water body "la salina" and to improve community environmental health.

  • Implementation of an environmental and artistic awareness strategy.

  • Development of 8 cleaning brigades with the community, strategic allies and volunteers.

  • Installation of 4 recycling stations to improve waste management and increase the amount of waste recycled.

Results

  • 227 people were trained in environmental education, including members of the Community Council, recyclers, Environmental Guard, volunteers, restaurants, hotels, eco-guides and motorcycle taxi drivers.

  • 1268.25 kg of waste was collected through the different brigades and events.

  • 1 environmental action plan was developed.

  • 4 murals were developed with recyclable material.

  • The project promoted the development of 24 partnerships with local and national businesses and organizations.

3. Rural Community-Based Tourism in Chocó

Tribugá, Municipality of Nuquí - Chocó

Objectives

Improve the quality of life of the inhabitants of Tribugá, through rural community tourism and participatory governance.

Activities

  • Creation of Lobos de Manglar Association

  • Creation of communication strategies

  • Construction of a tourist center

  • Creation of tourist circuits to offer clients

  • Implementation of a sustainable financial strategy

Results

  • Articles of incorporation and logo of the association were created

  • Communications: 1,000 flyers, radial and audivisual promotional material, web page, photographic material and billboards

  • Built a 49m2 tourist center

  • Created a tourist circuit in Kayaks. 6 kayaks, 12 lifevests and radios were acquired for its implementation.

  • 10 families increased 53% their income

  • First aid training

  • Implementation of a sustainable financial strategy


4. Stand Up Providence

Location

Old Providence and Ketlina Islands

Objetives

Reparation and provision of equipment to native inns (posadas nativas) and bars/restaurants, to restore the living conditions of the community, after the impact caused by hurricane Iota in Old Providence and Ketlina islands.

Activities

  • Reparation of 2 native inns

  • Provision of refrigerators, air conditioners, household linens, bedroom sets, household appliances and kitchen kits to 7 native inns.

  • Provision of equipment and beautification of 4 bars/restaurants.

Results

  • The reparation of the native inns improved the living conditions of the participants, providing them with safe and dignified spaces in their homes. 

  • Additionally, it strengthened the economic and social fabric of the families since the native inns are homes but also traditional tourist accommodations - an important source of income.

  • Similarly, the provision of equipment and embellishment of the bars/restaurants promoted the economic reactivation and income generation of families involved in the gastronomy sector.
